Cemetery of the Mummies: you don't need to go in Egypt to watch mummies!

The celebrated Cemetery of the Mummies is found in the lower part of the church of S.Stefano in Precetto of Ferentillo.
Due to a series of natural causes, especially relative to the chemical composition of the terrain, and to the ventilation of the locale, the bodies buried in the church underwent a process of mummification. Recently the "mummies" were placed in a standing position in special reliquaries and the singular phenomenon has become an obbligatory stop on the touristic itinerary in the Valnerina.
